How do we add runtime JVM options on our gradle build script on unix ?

Bishow
How do we add runtime JVM options on our gradle build script on unix ?

There is a hint about it on  http://www.gradle.org/getting-started.html

It tried  the following two options on my build.gradle file

GRADLE_OPTS="Xmx512"
set GRADLE_OPTS="-Xmx512"

But both didn't work.
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Sorry that the doc is not clear enough. You can either set the
GRADLE_OPTS in the GRADLE_HOME/bin/gradle.exe(bat) script. Or you can
set GRADLE_OPTS as an environment variable.
